A woman has married her thug boyfriend who was jailed for disfiguring her in an horrific acid attack.

Berfin Ozek, 20, thought she was going to die when she was attacked by Casim Ozan Celtik, 23, in 2019 after their relationship ended.

Celtik told her that if he couldn’t have her, then no one could, before launching the corrosive liquid in her confront.

Berfin was left in almost continued pain and with only 30% left of her vision following the attack.

After reporting him to the police, Celtik is said to have bombarded her with apologies and promises of love, and begged for her forgiveness.

At one point she asked police if she could withdraw her complaint against him, and wrote at the time: “I am not comfortable with him being between four walls there.

“We have written many letters to each other. I have given myself to him. I love him very much, he loves me very much.”

She later asked her lawyer to reinstate the complaint.

As a consequence, her ex-boyfriend was sentenced to 13 years and six months in prison for the attack by a court in the district of Iskenderun, Turkey.

But due to a change in the law, coupled with rule changes brought in by the Covid-19 pandemic, Celtik was released on probation.

Upon his release he closest hypothesizedv to her – and she accepted.

The pair married earlier this month, much to her family’s shock.

Berfin’s father Yasar Ozek said: “She married without our knowing. I’ve fought for her for years, and now all of this has been in vain.”

Lawyer Ramazan Erdogan said: “The defendant became a convict with the approval of the verdict.

“Considering the period of his imprisonment, he was entitled to go to an open prison after completing the time he had to use in a closed prison. However, due to the pandemic, convicts are considered on leave from open prisons until 31st May, 2022.

“The defendant’s release has nothing to do with his marriage to Berfin. The decision is final. If it were not for the pandemic, he would have continued to serve his sentence in an open prison.”
