Manchester United could perform better if they were under the ‘right leadership’ at Old Trafford.
That is according to Andy Gray who was speaking on beIN SPORTS after Ralf Rangnick was defeated for the first time on Monday evening against Wolves.
United were thoroughly second best in the encounter but it took until the 82nd minute for the visitors to make their advantage count by Joao Moutinho.
“I nevertheless think that group of players with the right leadership, with the right excursion, with the right people in charge would be much, much, much closer,” the former Aston Villa and Everton striker said.
“They might not be up with Manchester City though.
“The right person for the job might have been Antonio Conte, do you think he would have stood for half of that?
“This is what I am saying. Sir Alex Ferguson always used to say that no footballer is bigger than this club and he shipped out household names when they annoyed him.”
United have a break from the Premier League this weekend as they return to action against Aston Villa in the FA Cup Third Round at Old Trafford.
