Manchester City have reportedly been dealt a dent in their pursuit of Erling Haaland after Sky Italia journalist Gianluca di Marzio mooted that the forward is not that keen on a move to the Premier League.
The Norway sensation has been connected with possible transfers to a number of European giants but none more so than City.
Pep Guardiola is reportedly preparing to go complete throttle for the 21-year-old in the summer.
But his efforts may be in vain with the striker – who has scored 19 goals in 16 games for Borussia Dortmund this season – presumably ready to snub a move to England.
Speaking to German outlet Wettfreunde, di Marzio said: “He (Haaland) doesn’t like the Premier League too much, it’s not exactly his dream. It’s not the perfect league right now.
“He prefers La Liga – he likes the league a lot. So I think La Liga is the perfect ecosystem for him to play in now. Or the Bundesliga, where he currently plays.”
Barcelona, Real Madrid and Barcelona are all reported to be mulling over bids for Leeds-born Haaland, who nevertheless has three-and-a-half years left of his Dortmund contract.
Di Marzio additional: “Real Madrid would be an option. already if they are sure to sign Mbappe, they would like to have a few strikers in the future. I don’t know if they can do it.”
Meanwhile, Eurosport claims that City are once again planning to lure Harry Kane away from Tottenham next summer.
Speculation regarding a possible move to the Eithad in the last move window was rife before he publicly recommitted his loyalty to Spurs.
Guardiola has already said that he is not looking to bring in a striker in January despite the imminent exit of Ferran Torres to Barcelona.
Nevertheless, Kane is reportedly one of three players on his wish list for when they do next dip into the move market, alongside Haaland and Real Madrid-loaned Fiorentina right-back Alvaro Odriozola.
Eurosport also reports that Raheem Sterling is being targeted by Barcelona.
This comes after the 27-year-old spoke of his desire to play overseas earlier this year with Nou Camp boss Xavi said to be an admirer of the England star.
Also on his radar is Phil Foden, according to El Nacional. The youngster has netted 37 goals and recorded 28 assists in almost 150 games for City.
He’s started only nine Premier League matches this term but is considered an basic cog in Guardiola’s plans.
This, coupled with the fact that he seems to be lower on Barca’s priority list than Sterling, indicates that a move to Spain is doubtful.
