Gateway 24 inch LCD HD monitor review
I bought this Gateway FHD2400 24 – inch widescreen LCD HD monitor a week ago from Best Buy. It was priced $479.00. Honestly, this Gateway 24 – inch LCD was not my first choice. I had truly intended to buy a Hannspree 28 – inch monitor, priced at $549.00. I thought that a 28 – inch monitor would be much better than a 24 – inch one. Unfortunately, the Hannspree monitor had some problems. The sales staff at Best Buy suggested that the Gateway 24 – inch monitor might be a better choice.
The Gateway widescreen 24 – inch (diagonal) LCD HD monitor is styled with a typical black frame. An aluminum trim bar across the bottom gives it an elegant look. The adjustable metallic stand allows you to tilt the monitor to your preferred angle. It will also swivel 90 degrees in either direction. Beneath the stand are two small wheels, which ease moving it about easily on the desk
The label indicates: HD 1080p (,high-definition), 1920 X 1200 (maximum resolution, 16:10 HD format), Universal Input (HDMI, DVI, VGA part, Composite, S-Video, UltraResponse 3ms (3-millisecond response time), UltraColor Gamut 92%, 4-port USB 2.0 center.
The characterize is compliant with DVI and HDMI input standards. It meets High – Bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP) standards. This method that you can use it to view 1080p HDTV programming.
I watched some of my HD movies on this LCD HD monitor, and they looked incredible! There was a slight problem, though. The DVI-HDMI cable was not included with the monitor. If you want to acquire the best image quality, I highly recommend that you buy a DVI-HDMI cable. The use of the correct, high quality cable to connect your monitor to your computer will give you amazing results. An additional bonus of using this HDMI cable is that it carries both the video and audio signals—thereby reducing the tangle of additional wires.
An optional SPEAKER BAR is obtainable for just $50.00 more.
This monitor will work with your Play stop-3 or Xbox 360, too. They easily connect with the HDMI cable.
If you are used to the older Gateway LDC monitors, such as the 22-inch LCD Monitor, this new unit will feel quite familiar. It retains the old Gateway control layout, with the EZtune touch menu on the left side. If you have not used a Gateway monitor before, this may seem a bit awkward until you get used to it, but once you become accustomed to it, I think you will like it. I know that I do!
The Gateway 24 inch LCD monitor hooks up to your computer easily. The Plug and Play characterize allows the Vista operating system to recognize it immediately. I didn’t use the attached EZtune software to adjust the color.
This Gateway 24 inch LCD monitor is labeled as ENERGY STAR compliant. In order to bear this label, it must meet strict energy saving standards. In other words, compared to less efficient monitors, it will save you money!
I did have one problem with the screen: I found it to be too bright! It took me about 3 days to become comfortable with the brightness of the screen. I know that there is an adjustment for that. I guess I’d better research it, and make the adjustment. I surprise…will that consequence in already more energy savings?
Considering what you get for the money, the $479.00 price tag is very reasonable. When all is said and done, this Gateway FHD2400 24 – inch widescreen LCD HD monitor is VERY impressive!
