Celtic-Rangers given Ref Watch treatment as Hoops penalty claim for ha…
YESTERDAY’S Old Firm passed without much controversy on the park.
But supporters from both Rangers and Celtic were aggrieved at two talking points in yesterday’s stalemate.
Lundstram blocking Rogic’s cross
The Hoops thought they might have had a penalty when Tom Rogic’s cross hit John Lundstram’s elbow.
While Gers were rightly annoyed when fact Sakala was flagged for offside despite being played on by at the minimum a yard as Cameron Carter-Vickers lay inside the penalty box.
That incident wasn’t brought up on today’s Ref Watch but they did analyse the possible handball.
Dermot Gallagher was happy with John Beaton’s call not to award a Celtic penalty but admitted it did catch the Rangers midfielder’s elbow.
He told Sky Sports: “His arm is in by his side.
“It hit him, there’s no doubt about that. It has hit in on the elbow.
“But as I say, the arm is tucked so not a handball.”
